Project title: White matter hyperintensity location and underlying etiologies: specific patterns for small vessel disease and amyloid pathology

Chair: dr. J.M. Biesbroek, J.M.Biesbroek@umcutrecht.nl
Coordinator: M. Coenen, M.Coenen@umcutrecht.nl
Leading centre: UMC Utrecht, Utrecht, the Netherlands
Project initiation year: 2021
Project status: Analysis started

Objectives

  1. To identify white matter regions where WMH are associated with either cerebral amyloid burden, or vascular risk factors as a proxy for arteriolosclerosis.
  2. To examine whether WMH patterns can be used to identify patients with underlying cerebral amyloid pathology, small vessel disease, or mixed pathology.
  3. To develop an algorithm that identifies unusual WMH patterns in a data-driven approach, and to explore the clinical correlates of patients with unusual WMH patterns.

Output

Pending.
